Company Overview
The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is the state's largest regulatory and consumer protection agency. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombudsmen to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.

Who we are
The Building Codes Division administers Oregon's Statewide Building Code, which provides uniform standards that ensure newly constructed residential and commercial buildings are safe for citizens to occupy. The state legislature established a "uniform" building code in 1973; the division celebrated the 40th Anniversary of that statewide code in 2013. The division also administers and regulates building laws and rules, and licenses qualified businesses and individuals who work in these trades: electrical, plumbing, boiler and pressure vessel, and elevator.
