The Johns Hopkins University Counseling Center (CC) provides services to students in full-time graduate and undergraduate academic programs in the Schools of Arts and Sciences and Engineering, as well as the Peabody Institute of Music.
As with all Counseling Center clinical staff, this person will operate as a generalist who provides a full range of clinical services including initial clinical assessments, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, outreach, consultation, supervision, and training. This staff social worker position will also focus specifically on providing services for students who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community. These services may be provided at more than one location within JHU.
Essential Job Functions:
Provides clinical services, including initial consultations, individual counseling, group counseling, couples counseling and crisis intervention to JHU students, with a special emphasis on services for students who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Provides outreach, and consultation services to the university community, particularly regarding those challenges faced by students who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Works collaboratively with other offices on campus to develop and provide supportive services for students who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Provides afterhours (as backup to ProtoCall) on-call shifts, in rotation with the rest of the clinical staff.
Shares expertise and provides training regarding students who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community to CC staff, including CC doctoral interns.
Works to remain up-to-date regarding the literature on gender identity, sexuality, and the needs of individuals who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Master’s degree in Social Work required. Must be licensed as a Certified Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C) in Maryland or eligible to obtain LCSW-C licensure within 1 year of hire.
Experience providing services to individuals who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Experience providing services to college students.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, campus departments, and student groups.

Commitment to one’s own ongoing development of multicultural competence as a psychologist.
