The Director of Environmental Health & Safety provides leadership in support of the University’s mission of providing high-quality instruction, scholarship, and service. The Director of EH&S is responsible for regulatory compliance and communication relative to regulatory matters, with the goal of zero regulatory violations and, when violations occur, mitigation activities that minimize financial or resource-intensive penalties. Incumbent is responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of programs associated with environmental health and safety compliance, including, but not limited to, industrial hygiene, occupational safety (OSHA/KYOSH compliance) general safety, bio-safety, radiation safety, environmental management, hazardous waste management, and laboratory safety. Position also provides technical advice and expertise in advising and coordinating compliance amongst faculty and staff, including the Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC-R, Central Heat Plant, Housing Maintenance, and Grounds Departments. Position maintains required University utility records, regulatory inspections and associated documentation, in addition to other special projects as needs arise. This position is responsible for AHERA compliance at Model Laboratory School and will serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) Designee.
Three years of related work experience is required, preferably at an institution of higher education.
