Under the general direction of the Industrial Hygiene Supervisor and in coordination with the in-house subject matter experts, the incumbent will oversee and manage both the Asbestos Management and Lead Compliance Programs of the University of California, Irvine. The essential job functions include, but are not necessarily limited to, the continued implementation and on-going improvements of previously established program initiatives (e.g., asbestos Operations and Maintenance Plan), provision of technical guidance on asbestos/lead-related matters to campus entities as required/requested, and coordination/supervision of asbestos/lead hazards response action(s) during on- and off-business hours. Technical guidance may range from the individual performance, reporting, and communicating of pre-renovation/demolition surveying/testing, accidental asbestos/lead disturbance mitigation, and/or Operations and Maintenance (O&M); to directing and supervising the completion of such through campus-approved vendor(s) for both initial investigation and hazardous materials handling, removal, and disposal. The successful candidate will possess and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations relating to asbestos and lead.

Salary: Range $65,564.00 - $73,502.00 Total Hours: 8-5, M-F Contract Position. Position requires individual accreditation of State of California, Division of Occupational Safety and Health Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) and State of California Department of Public Health Lead-Related Construction Inspector/Assessor (LRC-I/A). Must possess a valid California Driver's license. Must be able to participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program. Must be able to operate an EH&S vehicle. Must be able to work nights and/or weekends when needed and be on-call for emergencies. Must complete and pass a respirator fit-test and wear personal protective equipment (PPE). Final candidate subject to background check.
