The Research Assistant will contribute to a close multidisciplinary research team to assist with the administration of several NIH- and foundation-funded “real-world” interventional studies to improve communication between persons with serious illness, family caregivers, and care providers. These studies are embedded in care delivery and involve extensive coordination with care delivery organizations and organizational research partners, and interaction with study participants. The Research Assistant will work closely with the study team to accomplish tasks related to the day-to-day procedures and requirements of running complex research studies across multiple sites with various partner organizations. The Research Assistant will be responsible for completing tasks according to study procedures and facilitate communication with team members through written and oral communications.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be detail-oriented, and individually motivated to produce exemplary work. Candidates must be comfortable interacting with patient participants in clinical, home, or telephone settings, and competent or proficient in all standard personal computer work station programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Travel may be required, so regular access to a car is necessary for this position.
Primary Duties and responsibilities for the job:
Assist Center faculty and research staff with administrative tasks.
Involved in data collection, data entry, and data management functions under the supervision of Research Coordinators, the Research Program Manager, and Study PIs.
Development and delivery of study materials and documents such as consent forms, interview guides, and study protocols, etc.
Recruitment, screening, and consent of participants according to the study protocols’ inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Attend regular research group and PI meetings, as well as provide note-taking functions for scheduled meetings.
Coordinating team meetings, developing meeting agendas, study reports, and other tasks as needed.
Perform home and clinic visits in the greater Maryland region for study related tasks – access to a car is required.
Coding interview transcripts and adjudicating collected study data for fidelity.
Present and summarize analyses in various formats including oral and written reports.
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Gerontology, Psychology, Sociology, Communications, Marketing, Public Health, or other related discipline.
Some related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Master’s degree preferred
Two (2) years related experience preferred
Experience in aging and disability policy strongly preferred.
Familiarity with social media platforms and website design interfaces.
