The Safety Professional – Industrial Hygiene reports to Team Leader, Safety.

Our Safety Professionals have “earned a seat” at every table and are involved in all aspects of Parks operations, from the blueprint stage to ongoing maintenance. Safety Professionals work in every area of our Parks and Resorts, from kitchens, hotel rooms and attractions, to veterinary clinics, horticultural shops – even our massive laundry facilities. You’d be part of a matrix-style team where all levels of leadership work towards incident reduction through the development and implementation of smart, targeted safety initiatives.
Every day as a Safety Professional – Industrial Hygiene is different! Some of the things in this role you will accomplish are:
Assess, analyze, identify and solve workplace environment issues/hazards across a diverse group of Walt Disney Parks, Experience, and Products businesses, including service sector, manufacturing, production, warehouse, construction and entertainment/theatrical, by performing the monitoring, sampling, and evaluation of work locations;
Develop strong relationships and work as part of a team within a fast paced, matrix environment with all levels of leadership and employees;
Conduct industrial hygiene surveys of work sites, completing survey forms while using industrial hygiene monitoring and sampling equipment;
Make safety critical decisions and be expected to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control workplace conditions that may cause worker’s injury or illness;
Select, calibrate and use the appropriate Industrial Hygiene sampling and monitoring instrumentation to characterize chemical and physical hazards in industrial/workplace settings;
Complete all associated IH data management activities to include data report preparation and data entry;
Prepare technical reports, briefings, procedures, sampling surveys and instructional outlines for exposure sampling;
Provide technical instruction and training on proper sampling procedures and IH survey techniques; Deliver findings – good or bad – to leadership, because they trust our Safety Professionals to be completely candid at all times;

2+ years of relevant IH experience;
Knowledge and understanding of Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Chemical Hygiene Plan, Radiation, Hazard Communication, Asbestos, Lead, Electromagnetic Fields, Confined Space, Compressed Gases & Cryogenics, Indoor Air Quality, and Electromagnetic Fields;
Knowledge of relevant regulatory and industry standards and guidelines or the ability to research and study;
Flexibility and ability to operate within an ambiguous and changing environment;
Planning, organization and prioritization skills with meticulous attention to detail;
Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies and requirements or the ability to research and study;
Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and deadlines;
Familiarity with IH analytical methods, IH sampling instrumentation, and IH equipment software interface;
Mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access Databases;
Since you must be clearly understood at all times, excellent written, verbal and communication skills are essential;
The confidence to work independently, and the confidence to be part of a team to achieve effective sustainable solutions;
Ability to solve problems – sometimes in areas outside your realm of expertise – and work within an ever-changing, sometimes ambiguous environment;
Develop and deploy analytics and trends to improve safety;

Basic industrial hygiene experience;
Proficiency in a second language;
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, or in a closely related biological or physical science. Also must be eligible under ABIH to sit for the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) exam within 3 years is required.
Advanced degree in Public Health Industrial Hygiene is desired.
