The Psychology Department at Montclair State University invites applications for a full-time, Assistant Professor (tenure-track) with primary expertise in Occupational Health and Safety to begin September 2020. The ideal candidate will have subsidiary expertise in computational social science, attitudes, individual differences, or human development to complement current faculty backgrounds. Candidates will be expected to publish in quality journals, seek external funding, supervise undergraduates and gradates students and teach courses in I/O topic areas. Further, the candidate is expected to aid in the development and implementation of an interdisciplinary I/O Psychology Ph.D. program with concentrations in psychology, business analytics, and computer science.
Montclair State University is a public doctoral research university (R2) located approximately 30 minutes from New York City. The Psychology Department currently comprises more than 30 tenure-track and tenured faculty members organized into three broad categories: clinical, I/O, and cognitive. The department is in a period of rapid expansion with 20 active research labs, over 1 million dollars in extramural funding, a new clinical PhD program, and publications in a variety of outlets such as The Lancet, Psychological Bulletin, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. The I/O Psychology program offers an M.A. degree that currently has more than 60 students and is in the process of developing a new interdisciplinary Ph.D. degree.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology with broad expertise in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Occupational Health Psychology, Human Factors, or a closely-related discipline. We are especially interested in applicants whose research and teaching focus on advanced quantitative analyses or Big Data applications in relation to occupational health, such as intensive longitudinal methods, hierarchical linear modeling, agent-based modeling, natural language processing, or machine learning. Candidates must also have the potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and be prepared to expand course offerings in their area of specialization as well as teach graduate courses in the I/O Psychology program (e.g., research methods, HLM, organizational development).
