The Research Program Assistant II (RPAII) will contribute to the field activities for an ongoing community health project that measures prevalence of HIV, health and social issues, health-related behaviors and access to services among key groups in the Baltimore metro region. The RPA will conduct HIV testing and counseling and will be responsible for all phlebotomy-related aspects of the project. Additional duties may include the provision of referrals and participation in data collection activities.
Specific duties will include administering HIV counseling and testing, performing blood draws, maintaining specimen logs, and when necessary, assisting the lab manager in liaising with the lab regarding blood samples and test results, phlebotomy supply management, assuring biohazardous material compliance, and occasionally assisting with data collection activities. Additional duties may include responsibility for ordering equipment and supplies.

High School Diploma/GED. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Two years related experience.
Phlebotomist experience required.
Knowledgeable about communities at increased risk for HIV.
The successful candidate must be attentive to detail, able to work independently and in a team setting, and able to interact with a variety of people.
Some college courses preferred.
Some related experience and interest in HIV and HCV.
Experience with research or data collection activities preferred.
Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Experience with computers and data collection technologies preferred.
Prior experience or interest working with study populations and/or other diverse populations preferred.
Maryland HIV pre- and post-test counseling certification preferred.
Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrated experience working independently and ability to work well in an unstructured environment as well as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and protocol adherence, while maintaining flexibility to respond to multiple priorities.
Demonstrated experience with study population and/or other marginalized populations.
Strong organizational skills and ability to interact with a variety of people.
Proficiency in computer systems and electronic communications.
Able to occasionally work flexible hours to accommodate protocol needs.
