Geoengineers, Inc., a leading national earth science and technology consulting firm is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) for our Tacoma, WA location to join our team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
As a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), you’ll provide support to business lines performing work in geotechnical, environmental, oil & gas, natural resources management and construction oversight business sectors. You will be responsible for moderately complex technical work to help develop a solid health & safety foundation leading to continued alignment with health and safety consensus standards, along with federal and state regulatory requirements. You will also help revise/update our program documents and associated training modules on common Health & Safety topics – HAZCOM, Vehicle Safety, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Drilling and Heavy Equipment. You will help internally with job safety safety/hazard analyses to determine appropriate task planning, personal protective equipment (PPE) required and necessary training.
Master ‘s degree in industrial hygiene (IH), environmental health, health physics, chemistry, biology, toxicology, environmental engineering or demonstrated equivalent
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Must be a CIH in good standing with the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH)
Knowledgeable about existing and proposed changes in US occupational health and safety regulations
Ability to work directly with clients (internal & external), understand their expectations and meet project requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to utilize and calibrate IH/environmental measurement equipment, such as personal sampling pumps, anemometers, WBGT heat stress equipment, and direct reading instruments (PID, FID, 4/5-gas meter) to evaluate chemical/physical stresses;
Possess thorough worksite hazard assessment and documentation skills coupled with solid technical writing ability;
Knowledge of the engineering and environmental remediation services preferred;
