The Industrial Hygienist will provide Industrial Hygiene and Safety expertise in support of Diplomatic Pouch and Mail Operations. As the Industrial Hygienist you will assess workplace for Occupational Safety and Health concerns and provide recommendations for control of identified issues. The Industrial Hygienist will bring a demonstrated working knowledge of key mail and parcel screening components and experience in troubleshooting and maintaining equipment to the team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Integrate into the facility’s emergency response team during drills and designated emergencies
Conduct training and drills to ensure staff understands standard emergency response procedures to include CBRE threats, Medical emergencies, Weather emergencies, and any other potential workplace threats or dangers.
Conduct safety training for all shift personnel monthly.
Identify, evaluate, control and eliminates environmental conditions and stressors in the workplace that may cause impaired health, significant discomfort, or inefficiency of employees.
Ensure that applicable health and safety requirements are evaluated, implemented and adhered to within the work areas.
Review and provide feedback to other contractor’s safety plans and job hazard analysis reports as necessary.
Establish and maintain a professional rapport with Federal and Local law enforcement and emergency responders to include FBI/WMD, USPIS, DCLS Laboratory, State and County Health Departments, Dulles TSA, and Louden County Fire and EMS.
Loudoun County EOD work may be performed in unclassified and classified facilities as personnel schedules and operational needs dictate
Provide technical support and consultation with respect to any Chemical Biological Radiological and Explosive (CBRE) issues that may arise during the performance of mail screening operations.

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
High School Diploma/GED required
10 years of years of directly relevant knowledge of DoS and Federal Regulations addressing mail and package handling which include two (2) years of relevant work experience with detection screening equipment
Experience in troubleshoot and maintain equipment
Top Secret clearance required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A demonstrated working knowledge of key mail and parcel screening components and experience in troubleshooting and maintaining equipment
Basic aptitudes and physical abilities including color perception, visual and aural acuity, physical coordination, and motor skills to perform all required tasks.
Fluent in the standard Microsoft Office suite of software.
Knowledge and understanding of response actions to possible incidents involving explosives, hazardous materials, biological agents, and chemicals.
Successfully completed all mandatory training and required certifications to use all detection equipment.
