The Head of Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene acts as the leader and change-maker of the Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene Management Programs within the NORAM Region. He/she is responsible for promoting and supporting the achievement of Clariant's goals and objectives in safety and industrial hygiene. The successful applicant for this position will be an accomplished change-maker with a history of positively impacting safety performance in a medium to large sized manufacturing company.
Essential Function 1: Employee Safety and Industrial Hygiene Program Strategy Development and Implementation
Identifies the safety and industrial hygiene priorities, objectives and goals for the Region.
Optimizes and implements the policies, procedures and programs supporting the Region goals and objectives.
Measures and communicates the effectiveness of the safety and IH program efforts.
Essential Function 2: Compliance/Employee Safety and Industrial Hygiene Program Strategy Development and Implementation
Assesses the status of safety and IH compliance with Clariant Guidelines and OSHA requirements
Identifies new and emerging regulatory developments. Assesses and communicates their impact on Clariant.
Optimizes and implements additional compliance program initiatives in conjunction with management.
Essential Function 3: Develop and implement safety training and awareness strategy
Identifies safety training needs and requirements within the Region
Manages safety and IH training within the MyLearning online training system
Assesses the effectiveness of training and awareness programs, and optimizes the programs
Essential Function 4: People Management
Motivate and develop the site SEOs in line with the management principles of the company.

Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Safety Curriculum or equivalent with a Master’s Degree preferred
10+ years’ experience in safety or industrial hygiene
Strong working knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations related to manufacturing operations
Good communication and supervisory skills necessary
Certified Safety Professional and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist status required
