To report directly to the Head of Manufacturing Operations on an ongoing basis and communicate all relevant matters pertaining to the EH&S Management.
Multi-site responsibility in the GTA as the key liaison and lead with regards to any EH&S investigations at the applicable locations, both internal and conducted by third party, including but not limited to the WSIB, OSHA, MOL, Police and/or any other environmental or health and safety authority.
Maintain company activities to ensure compliance with legislated environmental requirements.
Lead environmental reporting to Company’s Management, the US EH&S and various levels of Canadian Government agencies.
Provide environmental guidance on the selection and installations of new processes of manufacturing equipment.
Ensure that environmental topics are addressed on the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
Monitor company activities to ensure compliance with regard to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Proactively develop and implement programs and ensure controls are in place for the health and wellbeing of all individuals that work and/or enter our facilities, also ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Develop and implement a company Health and Safety program to ensure that every measure possible is taken to ensure the health and safety of all employees (Due Diligence).
Co-ordinate health and safety training initiatives for all employees.
Ensure compliance with WHMIS legislative requirements.
Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Insurance Act legislative requirements.
Fulfill WSIB reporting requirements.
Perform accident / injury “case management”.
Investigation and Documentation of all accidents and incidents in a timely manner. This would include all required documentation and filing to WSIB and/or any other required authority as per any EH&S regulations and legislation.
Track accident frequency / severity / economic impact for the purpose of determining patterns and trouble areas.
Ensure compliance with First Aid regulations.
Track WSIB costs.
Disseminate information regarding health and safety issues.
Develop and maintain a company “emergency plan” per location
Conduct daily housekeeping walks, identifying current and / or potential hazards
Execute 5S audits and work with departmental managers to sustain processes
Conduct safety audits for Engineering changes as a result of operator issues or concerns
Co-lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee acting as the Certified Management Co-chair.
Lead, document and coordinate monthly workplace inspections.
Experience of direct Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and /or Safety Experience in a manufacturing environment
Applied knowledge and working understanding of OSHA and regulatory compliance
Previous experience with inspections, incident investigations, process safety, contractor safety, EHS Training, hazard reviews and job safety analysis.
Strong leadership, influencing and collaborative skills
Strong oral and written communications skills
Travel required to all of our main facilities in the GTA.
Ability to work with Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel), SAP and Internet Explorer
