The University of Tennessee at Martin is seeking applications for a Safety and Emergency Management Coordinator. This position is responsible for managing the development and implementation of all UTM emergency preparedness and emergency management programs, procedures, training and exercises as they apply to internal operations as well as coordination with external agencies. This position will provide disaster preparedness to university employees and prepare emergency plans and procedures for natural (e.g. tornados, floods, earthquakes, health emergencies/ Pandemics) and technological (e.g. hazardous materials events) disasters.
This position will also assist in the daily operations of the Office of Environmental Health and Safety. The ideal candidate should be welled versed in EPS and OSHA compliance as it relates to campus setting. Candidate should be knowledgeable of compliance requirements as they relate to campus activities involving hazardous and universal waste generation and disposal, Emergency Planning community Right to Know Act, Oil Pollution Act. State underground storage tank regulations and various other federal and state environmental regulatory compliance requirements.
Coordinate and supervises programs including but not limited to, biological safety, occupational safety and hygiene and environmental programs.
Serve as a technical consultant to faculty, staff and researchers regarding environmental safety management issues
Conduct safety inspections of campus academic and residential housing buildings to ensure compliance of systems, equipment and personnel actions.
Develop and maintain liaisons with municipal and county emergency-related needs that should be addressed in disaster planning. Develop and implement plans, procedures, maps, etc., accordingly
