The Safety, Health and Environmental Specialist under general supervision, will be responsible for the overall SH&E program and process for Cabot Microelectronics U.S. based production facility located in Aurora, Illinois. The coordinator will provide technical support and guidance to the Corporate SH&E Global team and when needed provide SH&E global support.
The key responsibilities of the site Safety, Health and Environmental Specialist are as follows:
Lead and support the SH&E processes with focus on;
•Ensuring compliance with regulatory (OSHA, EPA, DOT) and internal (ISO) requirements.
•Conducting regulatory compliance audits and inspections.
•Maintaining OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Certifications.
•Developing and driving a Process Safety Management program.
•Leading continuous improvement teams.
•Engaging employees in the SH&E processes.
•Evaluating data and providing trending analysis.
•Managing SH&E improvement projects.
•Conducting industrial hygiene evaluations.
•Consulting Leadership Team on SH&E processes and performance.
•Conduct and lead SH&E investigations to gather facts and develop corrective actions for improved safety performance.
•Assist in the development and delivery of SH&E training to management and hourly employees.
•Perform technical oversight of waste and wastewater management programs and lead efforts to reduce waste and costs.
•Support all SH&E reporting requirements (SARA Title III, Form R, Tier II, Hazardous Waste, Air Emissions).
•Drive environmental waste and utility reduction efforts (Recycle, Reuse, Reduce).
•Evaluate and lead ergonomic assessments.
•Assist in new chemical and new process introductions (NPI & NCI).
Technical – Knowledge of OSHA, EPA and/or DOT regulations. Practical experience in Industrial hygiene and ergonomics.
Business/Managerial – Project management, team organization and building, problem recognition and solving.
Behavioral – Self-directed, ability to work with limited supervision, strong written and oral communication skills.
Computer - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Certifications – CSP and/or CIH desired, Six Sigma Black Belt / Green Belt experience desired.
Experience – Minimum of five years with preferred qualification of 8+ years of safety, environmental and / or industrial hygiene experience in manufacturing or consulting. Implementation of various SH&E programs and processes in a manufacturing environment. Experience in OSHA VPP desired.
Travel - Occasional travel may be required.
Education - Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering or related field.
Additional Salary Information: Position eligible for 10% annual bonus based on company and individual performance.
