Education and Experience: - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety or related discipline required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in occupational safety & health required.
- Experience in manufacturing or medical device industry is preferred.
- PE, CIH or CSP required, or to ability to obtain within 18 months.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/ Specialized Courses and/or Training: - Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Must maintain qualifications to serve at the OSHA HazMat Specialist Level.
- Must complete First Aid, CPR and AED certification and be willing and capable to provide first aid to others.
- Has the knowledge and skills necessary to interpret regulations, permits, and other technical data.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills: - Computer skills to include Microsoft Office.
- Operation of specialty environmental monitoring devices & software.
Reasoning Ability: - Ability to work in a team environment and independently to solve complex human or environmental issues.
- Ability to read and interpret federal and state regulations.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements. Language and Communication Skills: Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above. Ability to communicate ideas and issues effectively to team members and management. Effective report writing skills. Physical Demands: While performing this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and work inside a hot and confined area. Must be medically qualified to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and level-A hazmat suit. Vision Requirements: Visual acuity necessary to do the job safely and effectively.
