The Rockefeller University seeks an Assistant Safety Officer to join Laboratory Safety and Environmental Health. The Assistant Safety Officer will provide assistance in managing health and safety programs under the general industry standard. Responsibilities will include providing staff assistance on occupation health and safety issues, and conducting program assessments, safety training, and routine and emergency monitoring for compliance with occupational exposure limits. Will serve as the primary backup to the Associate Safety Officer, assisting with various responsibilities related to industrial hygiene/occupational safety, FDNY backup duties, and general and biological safety. Will conduct emergency responses, investigate odors in laboratories, and assist in processing isotope packages.
Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in environmental health science or related field preferred. At least two years of experience working in a higher education environmental health safety (EHS) setting preferred. Must be able to gain proficiency in custom EHS software used by department. Strong verbal and written communication skills and computer skills required.
