Job Summary Full-time Temporary position responsible for technical work in a wide range of environmental, occupational health and safety disciplines that align with the organizations' EH&S standards and with federal and state regulatory requirements.
Performs technical and administrative duties in laboratory safety, industrial hygiene, chemical safety, emergency response, environmental compliance and waste management, and training.
Applies technical knowledge of processes, procedures, and equipment used in monitoring and auditing EHS conditions
Under general supervision, works on developing, implementing, and conducting hazard assessments, training programs, and inspections, necessary to ensure the overall safety and health of employees and the campus community.
Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards or uncomfortable conditions in the work place.
Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment, to minimize potentially hazardous conditions.
Conducts employee training, ergonomic evaluations, and responds to incidents.
Maintains current knowledge of regulatory requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of professional experience in a comprehensive environmental, health and safety program.
Physical Demands: The selected candidate will be required to stand and walk for moderate periods of time; lift and carry up to 30 lbs. of tools and equipment; needs to have the ability to wear a respirator and other protective equipment when working under hazardous conditions.
Environmental Conditions: The selected candidate will enter laboratories using chemical, biohazardous, and radioactive materials.
Protective Devices Required To Use: Gloves, lab coat, coveralls, and respirator.
Master's degree with 5 years of professional experience in a comprehensive environmental, health and safety program, preferably in a university setting.
DOT certification for packaging/shipping of chemicals, hazardous materials, and dangerous goods
Competent Person under OSHA standards and documents per 29 CFR 1926.32(f)
