MANAGER, FACILITIES' ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY, Facilities (DOF)-Repair and Maintenance, Comprehensive Services Group, Utilities, Grounds, Mail Services, Fleet Maintenance, Custodial Services, and Bates, to lead, assign, and direct the DOF-EHS staff and day-to-day activities, providing guidance and training, correcting unsafe work practices, and monitoring compliance with EHS laws and regulations and MIT practices; and work closely with Facilities' management and staff and with central EHS to ensure that all EHS requirements for DOF are satisfied. Will work with EHS staff to ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and coordinate the design and implementation of all DOF occupational safety and health programs related to compliance activities, risk mitigation, training, and education; ensure proper incident reporting and investigations, conducting assessments, inspections, training, record keeping, and practices that encourage a safety culture with all employees responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and following the confined space, lock out tag out, hazard communication, job hazard analysis, electrical safety and fall protection procedures; serve on safety committees and participate in emergency response tasks.
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in safety engineering, industrial safety, or industrial hygiene; eight years' experience in a safety-related role or five years' in a safety-related position in an industry-related business; strong interpersonal, presentation, and oral and written communication skills; good planning and organizational skills; ability to work as a team leader; record of building consensus among internal and external parties; demonstrated depth of problem solving, analytical, and investigatory skills; ability to prepare thorough reports and offer corrective action; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and EHS industry software; bias for action; self-motivation and ability to motivate others. Professional certification preferred, i.e., CSP, ASP, OHST, CUSA, CIH. Experience managing others also preferred. Knowledge of SAP a plus. Job #14208-P
Position requires working on feet, stair and ladder climbing, routine lifting, ability to work in confined spaces and on roofs, and to traverse campus in all weather conditions. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of many duties.
Must be able to work extended hours and varied shifts, including possible weekends, as required by workload or emergencies.
