The successful candidate will work with the Corporate EHS Manager to lead and implement EH&S programs and initiatives to ensure a safe, healthful working environment for all employees of Packaging Service Co., Inc. They will also continue to build a strong EH&S culture within the organization through teamwork and strong employee interaction. In addition, they will continue to improve and manage aspects of safety, occupational health, environmental compliance, emergency management and incident response.
Primary responsibilities include:
Assisting in the implementation of programs and policies created by Corporate EHS into the work sites;
Performing compliance audits of work sites to ensure follow-up on corrective actions;
Helping to create and maintain tracking mechanisms for training records, company incentive programs, corporate EHS programs, etc.;
Participate as a member of the Corporate Safety committee and lead projects and initiatives developed by the committee;
Collect and analyze facility safety data to identify trends. Develops and prepares reports to Management as appropriate or required;
Helps to implement the company’s accident investigation program by assisting in investigations to determine root cause(s). Reviews supervisors’ incident reports for accuracy and recommends appropriate actions.
Coordinates and conducts safety training for employees;
Prepares information on various safety subjects to be used by local management in regularly scheduled meetings;
Maintain regulatory records and update EHS programs to comply with applicable regulations.
Any other duties, as assigned by Corporate EHS Manager.
BS or MS in an EH&S related discipline, Engineering, Occupational Safety, Occupational Health or equivalent.
3-5 years of experience in Health and Safety.
Experience working in manufacturing/distribution preferred.
Strong knowledge of DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other pertinent regulations is needed as well as accident investigation, root cause analysis, and safety and compliance auditing.
Strong leadership abilities, and ability to be vocal and interactive with employees.
Must possess good organizational skills as well as be knowledgeable with Microsoft Office products such as MS Office, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
